from The Bulletin's Local News

Final poll results

Lincoln County District Judge John Murphy sentenced former North Platte police officer Jesse Houpt to 90 days in jail and four years' probation Monday for vehicular homicide.

Houpt was driving April 16, 2002, when his car rolled, killing Houpt's fellow police officers Zach Peters and Ross Hilsman. Houpt was drunk at the time.

Murphy was careful to say he was not treating Houpt differently from any other defendant simply because he is a former police officer.

What do you think of Houpt's sentence:

  Too lenient 216 38%
  It's fair. 193 34%
