Those parts of the building could be rebuilt into a freestanding landmark to be placed elsewhere on school grounds, said North Platte architect Grant Creager.
Creager submitted various plans for such a landmark to the North Platte Public Schools board. The proposal would cost just over $300,000, of which nearly $70,000 would have to be paid up front.
Some who are working to save the old building, a unique example of Gothic Revival architecture, say that to save part of it for such a landmark would be a travesty. One of them called it a "tombstone." What do you think?
