In some places around the nation, people involved in homosexual relationships are lining up to obtain marriage licenses, and marrying, in defiance of long-standing legal practices. President Bush is proposing a constitutional amendment to define marriage as a union between one man and one woman. On the other hand, Democratic front runner John Kerry says homosexuals who wish to marry should receive a civil union license and that "marriage" is a religious practice. Those who get a civil union license would be entitled to the same legal standing as a spouse, including insurance benefits, inheritances and medical consultation. What do you think? |
