It would be interesting to run this poll every couple of weeks, to see how it changes, since we can't change our vote once we've made it. |

Shorty so it is better to barrow money, say 50,000 to get a degree then spend the next 30 years paying that back because now you have a mortgage,a family( kids cost about 300,000 nowadays from birth to graduation .that's just crazy and backward thinking. no one said you had to get a degree in 4 years you can pay as you go a semester at a time, but most people want it NOW! also there are allot of people who go to a college just because of the name which in turn means more money nothing wrong with a state college or taking all you can at a junior college, and if you still can not afford the price with out borrowing money there is always the military they give you a great education jmo |

Wow, there really are a lot of Paulbots trolling the Bulletin, isn't there? I'm guessing these are the same nuts who want to do away with the Department of Education. I dare even one of you to find a straight-out-of-high school job in Paulbotville, Nebraska that allows someone to not only live on their own, pay all of their bills, still have food to eat, and pay $10,000 or more a semester ($20,000 a year, more if you take summer classes like I do) for school without using scholarships, grants, loans, or any other kind of "assistance." The truth of the matter is that nearly every student who is in college today can only afford it through some kind of "assistance" that you all seem to talk down all the time. Once you find that nonexistent person, take a look at their grades. If they are working a minimum-wage job day and night to afford college so they won't be judged and frowned upon, I am guessing they don't have the time to study and actually maintain good grades. Whoops, they messed up and lost all of their hard-earned money they earned to pay their tuition so people like you wouldn't spit on them. I feel sorry for people like you, who will cash in on the Social Security, Medicare, and all the other "assistance" that is offered to you once you become elderly. I am guessing you will still be calling every college student a loser, however, because they chose to temporarily borrow enough money to afford college and have a much better life than your bitter, hateful, judging self. |

Oh what a better country this would be if we all did not borrow money or buy things we did not need goverment inclued. Only thing a person should have if they can finacely afford to do it is have a morgage and it should be for the lowest amount of time, there really is "NO" need to barrow for anyother reason, this includes Auto's ,student loans ,credit cards should be outlawed, save your money and then buy a car or go to school it is not that hard people do it everyday just not enough |

Gatekeeper, according to your logic, people taking out mortgages are mooching off of others just like student loans mooch off the government. Should every person who wants to be a homeowner come up with $100,000 on their own and pay it all at once so they don't have to take out a loan (mortgage) and have "assistance"? If not, you have no room to talk down to students who get student loans. Remember, students are not only paying back tens of thousands of dollars, but they are paying it back with interest that seems to increase every year. Do you have credit cards? Stop mooching off of banks. Pay for stuff on your own. |

I copied and pasted most of these for fox (faux).. and there are more if ya want them
1. Appointing two Supreme Court Justices:
2. Passing Universal Healthcare: Obama accomplished what no prior Democrat could in expanding coverage to 32 million more Americans
3. Financial industry reform: The most sweeping financial industry reform legislation since the Great Depression, this legislation tries to correct those industry issues that helped create the current recession we are still digging outselves out of.
4. Preventing a 2nd Great Depression: While preventing a depression is not sexy, history may say that this is still one of his most important accomplishment to date. The vast majority of economists and experts say that the nation had a high chance of slipping in to a Depression had this stimulus not passed along with the innovative actions of the Fed. Obama has worked with Bernanke and the Fed, put a team of some of the best economic minds around him, helped save America’s 3 major car manufacturers from going out of business.
5. Bringing the war in Iraq to an end: Obama has reduced troops from a peak of 170,000 down to 50,000, with the remaining troops focused on training and recruiting Iraqi forces, rather than participating in combat. With this news, Obama delivered on a campaign promise he made while bringing to an end a misguided, expensive, and costly war which served no clear purpose.
6. Passed legislation to curb greenhouse gases and improve the environment
7. Nuclear non-proliferation agreement: Obama met with 47 presidents in a 3 day nuclear summit to lower the nuclear weapons count with a treaty signed between US and Russia, putting the world back on a path to reducing nuclear warheads.
8. Repairing Our Image Abroad: After 8 years of damage to our country’s image, Obama has helped repair badly damaged relationships with foreign powers across the world from Russia to Europe and reached out to the Arab world.
9. Lifted Bush restrictions on embryonic stem cell research: Obama provided federal support for stem-cell and new biomedical research, helping make it easier for scientists to find cures for our most dangerous diseases.
10. Reversed George W. Bush’s ban on federal funding to foreign organizations that allow abortions.
11. Implemented education reforms: Made higher college more accessible and affordable through significant increases in scholarships and funding, funded early learning programs, and, most importantly, through an innovative program called Race to the Top, spurred reforms in state and local district K-12 education by providing states with incentives to make positive changes to their education systems. Race to the Top prompted 48 states to adopt common standards for K-12.
12. Tobacco regulation. On June 22, 2009, Obama signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, which, for the first time, gave the U.S. Food & Drug Administration the authority to regulate the manufacturing, marketing, and sale of tobacco.
13. Hows about finding and killing Osama Bin laden? Does he get a ounce of credit for that? Not to mention the many other high ranking taliban

I can’t believe all the lefties can do is blame Bush for all of this in which he left office over 3 years ago. Yet you can’t remember that Obama had a Democratic congress for two of those three years and all he worried about doing was bailing out big companies (For the unions!) and passing a socialist health care system (For the rest of his whack job followers!). During his first two years he spent all of his time trying to get his socialist agenda across and could care less about the economy and how far into debt he has put this country. Now Bush may have pushed us into two wars of varying success but what he spent over 8 years doesn’t even begin to come close to what Obama has done in 3 short years. THIS COUNTRY CANNOT AFFORD 4 MORE YEARS OF OBAMA!!! I know this upsets the people in line to get their government hand out but it’s the truth. There are people out there that honestly need help and let’s help them for the rest of you get off the couch and go get a job. Oh and by the way my mommy and daddy never paid for my education or anything else for that matter …. I did …. Amazingly without any taxpayer assistance! Get a job or two or three in my case and pay for your own education. If your never above flipping burgers or scooping manure you’ll never need taxpayer assistance. |

Shorty: "Repooplicans"...good one...you made my morning. And you make more sense than fox. Many people have been convinced by the Repooplicans to vote against their own interest in the hopes that someday they will be part of the 1%. Problem is, only 1% of our population can be part of the 1% so for most it is a pipe dream. I have no such illusions and I am one of those Repooplicans. Obama isn't doing too bad given that the Republicans are fighting him at every step. |

Fox, I now understand why you chose that as a username. It is apparent that's the only "news" you listen to. And not all of us have mommy and daddy paying for our college and have to get loans. Obama's plan is NOT to make sure no one has to pay back loans, it just lowers monthly payments so graduates aren't losing the shirt off their back just to make the minimum payment. Also good for students who don't have mommy and daddy to pay for everything. And no matter how you spin it, Bin Laden is gone thanks to 1) the military, yes, and 2) the focus being placed back on getting Bin Laden rather than continuing a useless war in Iraq. Now the troops are home, and it's time to focus on rebuilding America. But that can't happen with this Congress. Every time a bill comes up for infrastructure, education, or anything that is not oil or war-related, it gets shot down. Why? So this country can fail under Obama, so Obama can be blamed for everything. He can only do so much with the Repooplicans in Congress trying to stop his every attempt at improvement. They don't want improvement - they want failure until they can get their Tea Party candidate in. Let's not forget that a lot of Obama's proposals originated under Republicans to begin with. Now that it's a Democrat trying to implement them, he is met with resistance.
Off topic.. My responses are taking a while today because the website seems to be loading very slowly. Must be Obama's fault, too. ;) |

Shorty-the unemployment rate when Bush left office and Obama was inaugurated was 7.8%. Unemployment rate down! Nooooooooo. How high did it go since Obama got in? 10.0% What is (January 2012's report) unemployment rate? 8.3%. Student loans-I thought a loan was something that was to be paid back. I paid what I could to put my children thru college and what I couldn't My children got student loans and paid theirs back, why should the citizens of the this country pay for your childrens education? Seems to me that a report I read said that Mr. Obama didn't have a clue about either Bin Laden or any other terrorist captured and killed-he got in on the end of it so that he couldn't screw it up-look up the facts. War is a horrible act and giving kuddos to Obama & Co for stopping any is a long shot at best-I truly believe that the war on terrorism should be fought on foreign land rather than here, and stopping the fighting there is inviting it here. Lastly "obstructionist Congress" absolutely-Reid & Co. have to be stopped or we will totally go under. My thoughts, and thankfully this is still a free country. You have yours, I have mine-who's right? You, me? Obama absolutely (in my humble opinion) wants to stop our free society, spread the wealth and have us a Socialist Society. No thanks Obama & Shorty, no thanks. |

I can personally say Obama has done a lot for me. Student loan reform is going to make things a lot easier for students. Not being at war is a good thing for all of us. Catching and killing terrorists is a good thing for all of us. Unemployment goes down more and more each month.. That's a good thing. Getting things done despite an unprecedented obstructionist Congress is a good thing... Hmmm.. Should I go on? |

negirl12-you have got to be kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!! Name one positive thing Obama has done for YOU! Or the country? And you had better not say Obamacare. If you do, proof positive you have not read any of it! Got more money in your pocket? If you do, you're the only one besides Obama himself. Taxes gone down? Uh-NOT-oh and how about the fact that are so many of his white house staff that have back taxes not paid, they could alone make a nice dent in the national debt if they paid them. Get a grip lady-4 more years of Obama and we'll ALL be broke instead of most of us, as well as our country will go from being broke to being gone!!!!! |
