Marvin  Smith
     Marvin Smith, 76, died Dec. 28, in North Platte. He was born July 31, 1936 in Franklin, to Milo and Viola Smith.
     At 16, Marvin went to work as a ranch hand for Chas Long at the Long Ranch northwest of North Platte. He worked for three generations of the Long family. One of his most unique jobs as a ranch hand was help prepare for Pres. Ronald Reagan visit to the Long Ranch in 1987.
     Marvin was a kind and gentle man who loved the ranch, the livestock and the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
     Survivors include Margaret Long, Michaelene Long and Cathy Long all of North Platte; Tom Long of Gothenburg and Patrick Long of Elko, Nev.
     Memorials may be made to PAWS-itive Partners.
     Cremation was chosen and a private memorial service will be at a later date at the Long Ranch. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
