Katherine  S.  Ferguson
     Katherine “Kay” S. Ferguson, 56, of Cozad, passed away Nov. 25, at her home in Cozad. Kay was born Aug. 19, 1956 in Sutherland to George F. and Lola L. (Lange) Green.
     She graduated from Hershey High School, later attending Mid Plains Community College in pursuit of a degree in criminal justice.
     Following her schooling, Kay served as a caretaker for her grandmother before she died. On May 12, 1986, Kay married James “Jim” Ferguson on a ranch north of Hershey. Kay resided in Sutherland while Jim finished his career with the Army.
     In 2000, Kay and Jim moved to Cozad where they remained the rest of their married lives.
     In earlier years, Kay enjoyed researching her family''s genealogy. She never had children of her own, but was always regarded as the fun-loving aunt by her nieces and nephews. She loved her pet cats and dogs.
     Survivors include her brother, Harold (LaPita) Green of Guaymas, Mexico; niece and nephews, Stephanie (Doug) David of Lenora, Kans., Michael (Penny) Green of Paxton, Ga. (Jeff) Karel of Cozad, Timothy Johnson and Donna Brown both of Martinez, Ga.; and many other relatives and friends.
     Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim; and a brother, Ray “Sandy” M. Green.
     Graveside inurnment services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Ft. McPherson National Cemetery at Maxwell, with Pastor Jeremy Jech officiating. Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad was in charge of arrangements.
