Harriet  Ann  Grabenstein
     Harriet Ann Grabenstein, 87, of North Platte passed away Saturday, August 11, at Linden Court in North Platte.
     Harriet was born September 8, 1924, at Hershey to Ward Marion and Lillian Marian Nelson Cary. She grew up in Hershey and graduated from O''Fallons High School in 1942. She then went to work at the Lincoln County Court House in North Platte until she got married.
     On June 1, 1946, Harriet married Gerald George Grabenstein at Oberlin, KS. They made their home near North Platte where they farmed. After Gerald semi-retired in 1976, they moved into town.
     Harriet was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church and a past member of the Does Drove #109. She was also involved with various card clubs.
     Harriet is survived by her daughter, Peggy (Larry) Steel, of Fort Collins, CO; a son, Robert (Patty) Grabenstein, of Cozad; four grandchildren, William Steel, of Bridgeport, NE, Nanette (Tadd) Thomas, of Sterling, CO, Ashley (Cory) Johanson, of North Platte and Anthony (fiancee, Jana Detweiler) Grabenstein, of Hastings; four great-grandchildren, Tyla and Trotter Thomas, Cash and Karlee Johanson; two sisters, Frances Nicholson, of Tucson, AZ and Elaine (Ray) Slowinski, of Papillion, NE; a brother-in-law, Norman (Mary Sue) Grabenstein, of North Platte; several nieces, nephews and other family.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald; and her parents, Ward and Lillian Cary.
     Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, August 17 at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church with Marcia Dorn officiating. Burial will follow in the North Platte Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Great Plains Hospice or Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Odean Colonial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
