Harley
Hornelas
Anthony Harley Hornelas, age 23, of North Platte, went home to be with the angels, June 18 at his home with his family by his side after a long struggle with cystic fibrosis. He was born August 28, 1988 to Cheryl Scott and Tony Hornelas in North Platte. Anthony graduated from North Platte High School with the Class of 2007. He attended college in North Platte and Kaplan University in Omaha until his illness stopped his studies. His dream was to work in the medical field to help others. He loved sports, especially basketball which he loved to watch and play. The Duke Blue Devils were his favorite basketball team and the Ohio State Buckeyes were his favorite football team. Anthony spent much time at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and he made so many friends there, and they eventually became his family. Doc Murphy was his favorite doctor. Anthony always talked about him and had a great relationship with him. Survivors include his mother, Cheryl; father Tony; three sisters, Tonya (Tim) Townsend, Ashley (Brandon) Hornelas and Sunny Hornelas; grandparents, Christine Scott and Mary Silos; niece Tiffany Townsend; nephews, Tyler Townsend, Hendrix and Drayven Hornelas; his white German Shepherd, Duke; many aunts, uncles, cousins, special friends Dan Blaire, Brent, Kelli, Heidi, and all from the University Medical Center of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dave Scott and Candy Silos; and uncle Fred Hornelas. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. A memorial has been established and online condolences may be made at www.adamsswanson.com. Funeral services were 10 a.m., Monday, June 25 at Harvest Christian Fellowship Church in North Platte with the Pastor Dean Bailey officiating. Burial followed at the North Platte Cemetery. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
