McHarness
Marjorie ''Marge'' Ann McHarness, 79, of North Platte died Wednesday, June 13, at the Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City, MO. Marge was born July 17, 1932, to Frank and Hulda Witte Pearson at Grafton, NE. She grew up on the farm in Filmore County, NE and was raised in the Lutheran faith. Marge graduated from Sutton High School and later from Mary Lanning School of Nursing in 1953. She was a registered nurse for 44 years at Memorial Hospital and Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte. Marge was a mentor to many new nurses and helped countless patients and families. On May 18, 1958, Marge married Frank McHarness in Shickley, NE and they moved to North Platte where they made their home. Marge was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Diamond ''K'' Kiwanis and volunteered for the MOPS Program and the RIF Program. Marge is survived by her husband, Frank McHarness, of North Platte; her daughter, Julie (Kevin) Crookshank, of Lee''s Summit, MO; two granddaughters, Katie (Jeremy) Cunningham and Anne Crookshank; a great-grandson, Eli Cunningham; four cousins, Eunice (Jack) Jackson, of Minden, NE, Norma Nuss, of Sutton, NE, Lois Render, of Lincoln and Elaine McCullough, of Wichita, KS; and other family. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie McHarness; her parents, Frank and Hulda Pearson; and her father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Sylvia McHarness. Funeral service were at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at Messiah Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Eighmy officiating. Cremation followed the service and inurnment was at 10 a.m. Monday in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. The online guest book may be signed at odeanchapel.com. The family has established a memorial.
