Sugar  Rose  Navis
     Lucille ''Sugar'' Rose Navis, 71, of North Platte, NE went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, at the Sutherland Care Center in Sutherland.
     Sugar was born on March 8, 1941, to Alexander and Luella Eleanor ''Dixie'' Owen Schemp in Friant, CA. She grew up in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in 1959. On October 14, 1959, Sugar married E. William ''Bill'' Navis in North Platte where they made their home.
     Sugar was in the North Platte Amateur Radio Club (NØBXJ) and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend. She was also an amazing cook. Sugar was a woman of faith, a giving woman and supported non-profit organizations.
     Sugar is survived by her two daughters, Brenda Rose Barnhill and Linda Rose (Rick) Welch, all of North Platte; three grandchildren, April Rose Barnhill (fiancé, Daniel Navarrette), Amber Rose Welch and Eric Lee Welch; two great-grandchildren, December Rose Barnhill and Ezekiel William Barnhill; two sisters, Ruth (Gene) Berglund, of North Platte and Nira Kessler, of Berthoud, CO; her aunt, Lucille Johnston, of Florida; many nieces, nephews and other family.
     She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; her parents, Alexander and Luella Schemp; and a brother, Ted ''Bud'' Knox.
     Funeral service was 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, at the Harvest Christian Fellowship with Pastor Ron Lauber officiating. Burial followed in Fort McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation was from 1 to 8 p.m. May 26 and from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. May 27 at Odean Colonial Chapel At C & Sycamore. Memorials are suggested to the Goodfellows Shoe Fund or the Santa Cop Program.
