John
Ackerman
John Ackerman, age 60, of North Platte, died Sunday, May 20 at his home. He was born December 30, 1951, at North Platte to William “Bill” and Freda (Smith) Ackerman.
After graduation from North Platte High School in 1971, John enlisted in the Army in 1972 and served until 1975.
He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad at North Platte as a Carman for 25 years.
John was a mechanic at heart. He especially loved tinkering with motors. His garage was always open to family and friends.
Survivors include his sister Melba (Jim) Dickenson; his niece Vicki Dickenson; and his beloved dogs, Girl and Shelby.
His parents preceded him in death. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army and online condolences can be made at www.adamsswanson.com.
Memorial Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Fitch officiating. The register book may be signed Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Adams & Swanson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
