Ida E Johnston, 79, passed away May 7. She was born October 1, 1932 in North Platte, to Charles H and Gladys M (Roberts) Bostwick. In September 1953 she wed Joseph K Johnston of Sutherland. They were married in Gering, Nebraska. They had two children, Patricia (Johnston) Hejl, and Steve Johnston. Ida chose to be a homemaker, and stay at home mom for her children. She loved to bake, and often made homemade goodies for her family. In 1978, Ida and her husband moved to Washington State where they lived over 30 years. In May of 2011 she decided to return to her birthplace of North Platte. She is survived by her two children, Patricia and Steve, their spouses, Tom Hejl, and Susan Johnston, respectively, her brother, Charles R Bostwick, his wife, Betty, a grandson, Joseph W Testerman, and step grandsons Michael and Matt Hejl. Also, sister-in-laws, Dorothy, Shirley, Mary, Bonnie, and brother-in-laws, Bob, Mike, and Rich Ervin, as well as many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, a brother, Bob, and a sister, Margaret. Memorial services were held at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, May 19, at 2 p.m. Pastor Ryan Alexander of Calvary Baptist Church, North Platte, officiated. It was planned that Ida''s cremated remains would be laid to rest at Fort McPherson National Cemetery.
