Charles  John  Tilford
     Charles John “Chuck” “Pops” Tilford age 81 of North Platte passed away at his home May 3, 2012. Chuck was born January 2, 1931 to John “Bud” Tilford and Martha (Muhlenkamp) Tilford in North Platte.
     Chuck attended Platte Valley School and St. Pat''s High School. He entered the U.S. Navy, serving from 1949 to 1953. After his discharge he returned to North Platte where he worked on the family farm before hiring on to the UPRR. He worked as a machine operator for the Maintenance of Way Department until his retirement. He met his love Lois Hansen at the local roller rink. They were married on March 17, 1959.
     Chuck had no other way but to do everything well, being very talented at woodworking and leatherwork and anything mechanical. He enjoyed the outdoors and tractor pulls. He will also be remembered for being an excellent cook. In the days in which life was slower Lois and Chuck rode and raced motorcycles, a love they passed on to their children and grandchildren. His family was the center of his life, especially his wife Lois, the love of his life for 53 years.
     Survivors include his wife Lois of North Platte; 5 children Rick (Tina) Tilford of North Platte, Lori (J.W. Hardin) Pappas of Joshua, TX, Mark (Marcy) Tilford of Sutherland, Shawn Tilford of North Platte, Travis (Amber) Tilford of North Platte; 14 grandchildren Cyrus (Tara) Tilford of North Platte, Tanille Tilford of Lincoln, Heaven Tilford of North Platte, Cassie Pappas of Chadron, Mitch (Heather) Pappas of Oshkosh, Rawlin Pappas of Chadron, Christina Tilford of Sutherland, Jayden Tilford of North Platte, Elissa Tilford of Arnold, Landin Tilford of Stapleton, Ty Tilford of North Platte, Kolton Tilford of North Platte, Kylee Tilford of North Platte, Wyatt Hardin of Joshua, TX; 8 great grandchildren Mason Tilford, Cole Tilford, Ryker Tilford, MaKenna Smith, Rihanna Tilford, Tatum Pappas, Tuff Pappas, Haidyn Hansen; and numerous other family member and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
     A memorial has been established in his name and online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com.
     Services were at 11 a.m. Tuesday May 8 with full military honors graveside at Ft. McPherson National Cemetery. Visitation were noon to 6 p.m. on May 6 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home, which was in charge of arrangements.
