Patricia “Pat” Ann Griffin, 82, of North Platte passed away peacefully at her home and surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. She was born February 28, 1930 at Council Bluffs, Iowa to Paul and Adelaide (Grout) Peterson. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs in 1948. Pat married J.P. Stevens and lived in Council Bluffs before moving to North Platte. She was employed by UPRR and she served in various clerical positions in offices at Bailey Yard until her retirement. Pat was united in marriage to Jim Griffin in 1981. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ruth Circle, PEO Chapter EB, Goodfellow Shoe Fund, RSVP and strength training.
Pat was an original from the beginning. She wasn''t going to be an ordinary Grandma but rather a very special "Nana," a name that fit her perfectly. Pat had an infectious smile and hearing her chuckle could make any day better. She was blessed with a cheerful spirit and had a knack for making everyone around her feel like they were the greatest thing in the world: a gift that touched many lives. Pat was always on the go, with the petal to the metal, and loved being active in her church and in the community. Wherever Pat went she always liked to look her best. Whether family events, ball games, pageants, concerts she surrounded herself with family and friends. She frequently got together with Mary Turner, Joan Johansen and many other special friends through-out the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jim Griffin.
Pat is survived by her children Michael Stevens and Shelley (Thomas) Howe both of North Platte; Gerry Kallhoff, Karyn (Barry) Brandt, and Sara (Fran) Griffin all of CO, Rebecca (David) Hinton of WY; grandchildren, Melissa, Jennifer, Michael, Lindsay, Carlee, Colleen, Jennifer, Amy, Kirstin, Darin, Brandi, Nikki, Cody, and Calli; 23 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; sister, Judy (Thomas) Ketcham of Omaha; aunt, Frances Peterson of Omaha; nephew, Brad Ketcham, niece, Nancy Peartree, and many other close friends and relatives.
A memorial has been established in her memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com.
