Jack  D.  Howard
     Jack D. Howard, 73, of North Platte, passed away November 5, 2009 at Great Plains Regional Medical Center. He was born July 1, 1936 to Hubert and Murena (Hoehne) Howard at Adams, NE.
     When Jack was five, his family moved to North Platte from Minden, where his dad was the Superintendent at the North Platte Fish Hatchery. Jack graduated from North Platte High School and went on to graduate from Doane College. He was employed by Gateway Insurance until his retirement. He also owned and operated Starting Gate Liquor. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman.
     He is survived by his wife, Doris of North Platte; his daughter, Jamie (Doug) Scholtz of Scottsbluff; his son, Scott (friend, Kim Thomsen)of North Platte; a brother, Rex of North Platte; a grandson, Brandon and other relatives.
     He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary.
     A memorial has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.carpentermemorial.com. Funeral services were Tuesday, November 9, 2009 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Amy Jo Hawley officiating. Burial at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens near North Platte.
