Tim Scholar of North Platte was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of sexually assaulting young teenage girls.

Police spokesman John Deal said investigators opened an investigation on Aug. 25, after receiving information. He said text messages between Scholar, 26, and the victims indicated some type of sexual contact had occurred

Police arrested Scholar Wednesday at a home in the 400 block of So. Bailey.

According to the investigation, in early 2016, Scholar reportedly had oral sex with one girl and digitally penetrated the other. The victims would have been around 13-14 years-old at the time, Deal said.

The girls were interviewed at the Bridge of Hope child advocacy center.

In court Thursday, Deputy Lincoln County Attorney Tonya Roberts-Connick said the alleged assualts occured from Feb. 1 through March 31, 2016.

Roberts-Connick asked for a substantial bond. She said more charges may be coming.

Lincoln County Court Judge Kent Turnbull told Scholar he faces 25 years-to-life imprisonment if convicted.

Bond was set at $250,000.
