If you’ve lost track of North Platte native Tami Gosnell, she will return to town on “pre-eclipse” weekend for two shows -- Friday and Saturday nights, Aug. 18-19 – downtown.

Gosnell now lives in northern California, where she works as a singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, recording and sound engineer.

Among the many musical achievements of the 1995 North Platte High graduate, she advanced to the top rounds of American Idol in 2007, delivering a performance that was later named the 5th best all-time American Idol audition by Entertainment Weekly.

She will play at the Espresso Shop Friday night, and outdoors on the street on Saturday night.

In California, Gosnell plays drums and sings in The Front, an original all-female rock group. She also performs in Pangaia, a multimedia bi-lingual poetry and music collective that gives voice to the earth.

She will perform in North Platte with a band comprised of close friends and family and also do some solo work.

When growing up in North Platte, she played in the band “The Flower Pots,” which was later renamed “Disco Goddess.”

Also, Simple Story

The group Simple Story will also play both nights. They formed in the late 1990s and quickly developed into the most dynamic band in the North Platte area, noted for accurate covers and riveting original songs.

Simple Story recorded a highly-regarded CD as well as an EP in the early 2000s before life took them in different directions.

Leader Tom Gosnell is an enthusiastic performer who loves the music of the 70s-90s, in addition to top-notch original music.
He is accompanied by the original band – Brandon Raby, Luke Raby and Jason Evans, with backing vocals and drums by Tami Gosnell.

Jareb Liewer

A professional musician for 10 years who grew up in North Platte, Jareb Liewer is now based in Los Angeles, with his band, Suez.

Liewer will perform Saturday evening.

In 2010, Jareb finished in the top 50 on American Idol, auditioning in front of judges Simon Cowell, Ellen DeGeneres and Kara DioGuardi.

He is a 2000 graduate of North Platte High.

His band Suez has earned considerable attention and is preparing to record and release their second studio album, due out in December. And, Liewer has an album of all-original music -- Red Flag – to his credit.

Blue Swing

Brandon Raby, Luke Raby and Steve Barger are renowned for percolating gypsy jazz and lively swing, with toe-tapping rhythms and melodies. They are one of Nebraska’s elite gypsy jazz bands. Blue Swing has recorded two CDs.

The WonderCult

A highly talented North Platte trio that covers the best rock songs of the times and writes impressive original songs too.
WonderCult consists of Levi Most on bass and vocals, Mikah Wiseman on guitar and vocals, and Randy Hunter on percussion.

Admission Friday is by freewill donation. $5 is suggested. It would be a good idea to arrive at the Espresso Shop early to ensure a good seat.

Saturday night's outdoor show on the bricks includes children's games from 6:30 - dusk, with food and craft beer. Rock music starts around 8 p.m. and lasts until midnight. You might want to bring canvas camp chairs. Admission is $5.
