A North Platte couple was charged Saturday with attempted theft after they allegedly tried to open the doors on a locked car.On Saturday at 9:25 a.m., officers responded to a suspicious activity report in the 200 block of North Grant, police spokesman John Deal said.
A resident and witness told police they saw a man and woman try to enter two cars that the resident owned. According to the report, the man and the woman repeatedly pulled on the door handles but could not get in the cars because the doors were locked.
Police found Christopher Davis and Tera Dewolf in the area, matching the descriptions given by the witness.
Police searched Dewolf’s purse and said they found some Tramadol -- a controlled substance for which she had no prescription. Dewolf was charged with attempted theft and possession of a controlled substance.
Davis was also charged with attempted theft.
The couple were taken to the Lincoln County jail, where Dewolf is held on $10,000 bond and Davis on a $5,000 bond, according to sheriff’s records.
