The 12-and-under North Platte All-Stars lost their first game of the Cal Ripken Baseball World Series on Thursday by a score of 6-3 to Carthage, Mo.

North Platte will play an elimnation game Friday in Branson, Mo. against Atlantic Beach, Fla.

The Missouri state champion Carthage Tigers got the early advantage on North Platte, taking a 4-0 lead in the first inning. North Platte played better after that but they couldn't overtake the team from southwest Missouri.

Max Lucas was named the player of the game for North Platte with two hits, including a double. Lucas was also one of three pitchers North Platte used in the game. The other two were Blaise Zeiler and Carter Kelley. Lucas also played catcher where he threw out a Carthage runner.

Gabe Vrchoticky and Andrew Brosius also had hits in the game for North Platte.
