McClellen leads Irish past Doniphan-TrumbullTell North Platte what you think

DONIPHAN-Drew McClellen scored both touchdowns on Friday as North Platte St. Pat's won its first game of the year against Doniphan-Trumbull, 14-6.

The defending state champion Doniphan-Trumbull scored first to take a 6-0 lead. But in the second quarter, McClellen returned a punt back for a touchdown. The Irish took the lead when McClellen booted the PAT through the uprights.

In the third quarter, St. Pat's scored its second touchdown when McClellen caught a pass from quarterback Bryce Byrn.

It was the last score of the game. The St. Pat's defense held the Cardinals the rest of the way to finish the game.

After defeating the team that ended their season in the state playoffs the previous two years, St. Pat's opens its home schedule against Wood River on Sept. 5.
