Ground will be broken at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday for a project to triple the size of Great Plains physician office building in North PlatteThe groundbreaking will the held on the building site northwest of the current building at 611 West Francis.
The $14.5 million expansion will being the total area of the building to 70,600 square feet, extending northwest of the existing building, Great Plains spokeswoman Fiona Libsack said. The expanded office will feature medical clinics, an on-site pharmacy, X-ray services, expanded parking and an increased number of exam rooms to accommodate the growing North Platte medical community.
Great Plains Health is the owner, with project partners Midlands Family Medicine, Pathology Services PC and U Save Pharmacy, Libsack said.
Great Plains Health interim CEO Mel McNea said the design will improve patient flow, communication among providers and patients and overall consumer satisfaction.
The scheduled completion date for the project is August 2015, the same timeframe as the hospital’s new 7-story building is scheduled to open.
The Erdman Company, a Wisconsin-based, healthcare-specific facility, planning, development and design-build firm, will lead the construction effort. The Erdman team will select sub-contractors from the local region, Libsack said.
Scott Anderson of Erdman will be the site superintendent. The Erdman company was the general contractor when the building was originally built in 1994.
