Community Connections will host a 5K Doggy Dash, pancake feed and Puppy Olympics on Saturday morning, Sept. 6.
This morning-long celebration of canines and community will be held at North Platte’s Cody Park.
The race is part of the Platte River Fitness Series.
The sign-in for the 5K begins at 8:15 a.m., and the race at 9 a.m. Run or walk with your dog, or alone. The course includes optional agility challenges for dogs.
All dogs must be on six-foot leashes. Pre-registration forms are available at the North Platte Recreation Center or at www.platteriverfitness.com.
After the race, a freewill donation will get you into a pancake feed. After that, the Puppy Olympics will be held, consisting of fun challenges for dogs of all ages, sizes and skill levels. There are seven events. The cost of each competition is $1, or $5 for all seven, organizer George Haws said.
All proceeds will go to Community Connections mentoring. For more information, or how to become a mentor, call Mona Tarin at 308-696-0976.
The events are in memory of John Brown and John Lindenberger.
