Although that price was the lowest in Nebraska, other gas stations are offering relatively low prices, according to the website, www.gasbuddy.com.

Stations in Lincoln, Omaha, Grand Island, Kearney and Elm Creek sold gas Wednesday for $3.14 to $3.21 a gallon, gasbuddy reported.

The price is also less in Ogallala, where two stations have it on sale at $3.25 a gallon, according to gasbuddy.

The prices arein stark contrast to North Platte, where the cost remains around $3.50 a gallon.

Nationally, the average price for unleaded gasoline has dropped every day in July and fallen for 31 consecutive days, the AAA Motor Club said Wednesday. But in North Platte, the average price has dropped only 5 cents a gallon in the last 30 days, and prices have gone up and down during that time.

AAA says, “Motorists are paying the lowest average retail price at the pump since March 17. This is due to U.S. refineries running near their highest rates since 2005, according to the Energy Information Administration, and domestic demand that was reported last week to have dropped back below 9 million barrels per day.”

The average price in Nebraska Wednesday was $3.43 a gallon. In North Platte, the average price was $3.53, AAA said, about 20-cents a gallon higher than the average in Omaha ($3.31 a gallon) and Grand Island ($3.33.)
