Flying the flag in the opening parade

The 10-year-old Nebraska State All-Stars from North Platte went 1-1 in pool play at the Midwest Plains Regional tournament in Chadron.

The North Platte team opened the tournament Friday with a win, defeating the Colorado state champions 5-4. Pitcher Cole Wright went the distance to get the win.

Derrick Kuhlmann and Treyce Barker came up with timely hits and Kuhlmann and Jack Heiss played strong defense.

In game two, North Platte lost 6-4 to the Minnesota state champions on Saturday, despite strong hitting by Cole Wright, Derrick Kuhlmann and Jack Heiss.

Pitcher Treyce Barker took the loss.

The single elimination tournament begins Sunday.
