Beware: Phone scam circulating in North PlatteTell North Platte what you think

Numerous customers of Nebraskaland National Bank have received scam robotic phone calls from an unknown number telling them that their debit card has been compromised.

The robo caller tells them to “please press 1 immediately.”

If the number 1 is pressed, they are asked for the debit card number, the pin number and the 3 digit code on the back of the card.

With that information, a thief can duplicate the card and start running up charges to the account.

Bank officials urge everyone to ignore the phone calls and share this message with your friends and family.

A few tips on keeping your information secure:

• The bank will never call you and ask you for information they already know.

• If you inadvertently give out your account or debit card information, contact the bank immediately.

• Protect your online banking passwords and shred sensitive documents.

• For more tips, got to nebraskalandbank.com and click on “Identity Theft Protection” under quick links.
