Juniors beat Lexington to open districtsTell North Platte what you think

HASTINGS-The North Platte First National Bank Juniors opened districts on Saturday by cruising to a 15-1 win over Lexington at Duncan Field.

North Platte (25-10) will play Hastings (31-15) on Sunday while Lexington will play Kearney (24-16) in an elimination game.

Lexington, who upset Twin Cities on Friday to open the Area 7 tournament, took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before the First Nationals took the lead for good by scoring three runs in the second inning.

The Nationals then broke the game open in the third by scoring seven and chasing Lexington pitcher Alex Gurolla. North Platte added five more runs in the fourth for good measure before Benny Brockmoller came in to pitch and finish the game in the fifth.

Brockmoller relieved starter Bryce Byrn, who got the win after throwing for four innings. The two pitchers combined to only give up one hit from Lexington.

Kade Wroot batted in three runs for the First Nationals. Byrn and Dominic Martinez also had two RBIs each. Brendan Folk and Trev Chase each had two hits to lead North Platte.
