Registrations open for children's theater Tell North Platte what you think

The Stardust Children’s Theatre invites children who have just finished grades K-2 to audition for a production in early August.

The first 45 children to register and pay a $25 fee will audition on Aug. 8. Rehearsals will be on Aug. 9, depending the child’s role, and the performance will be on Aug. 10, North Platte Playhouse Director Scott Carlson said.

Stardust Children’s Theatre, directed by Anne Schmit and Donna Pucket, traveled for several years as “Artists in Schools and Communities” for the Nebraska Arts Council.

“Although we are not on the road anymore, we see a need for the very young ones to experience the delight of dressing up and performing on stage,” Schmit said.

“Arts are so beneficial for children and there are very few opportunities for the younger grades,” Pucket added.

Both women believe that costumes and songs work magic.

Those interested in registering should contact the North Platte Community Playhouse at 532-8559 or contact Carlson at 520-6898.  Payment must accompany the registration, Carlson said.
