Lord of the Jungle by Perez was an award winner in the 2014 Nebraskaland Days Art Show.
Sue Taylor Perez of North Platte will be the guest artist at the Thedford Art Gallery in August.
Perez is an award winning artist in many different media, including pencil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, oil, ceramic and jewelry.
Thedford is a crossroads community along Highway 2, from which Highway 83 leads north to Valentine or south to North Platte. This is ranching country and rodeos are held on weekends throughout the summer.
The Thedford Art Gallery is at 509 Court St., with art, photography, sculptures and pottery for sale. The gallery is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, May 1-Dec. 30 or by appointment at (308) 645-2396.
"There are so many life experiences to draw from," Perez said. "That makes it difficult to narrow down to a favorite subject matter. Art should allow an extension of a lifetime of observations and ultimately tell a story to the viewers."
Perez's awards include best of show at the 2005, 2007 and 2011 Nebraskaland Days Competitive Art Show.
Originally from Colorado, Perez "dabbled" in arts and crafts as a child, but never pursued serious study until her three children were grown. After relocating to Nebraska, she discovered a passion for drawing and painting, redefining her life's conviction.
Perez’s work is also on display at the Art and Gift Gallery on the bricks downtown in North Platte. She offers private art instruction in a variety of mediums.
