The Nebraska State Cal Ripken Little League 10-year-old all-star tournament will be held July 11-12 at Centennial Park in North Platte.

The 12-man roster for the North Platte squad was chosen from a pool of 8 league teams consisting of more than 100 players, ages 9-10.

North Platte drew a tough opening game against the Grand Island All-Stars at 1 p.m. Friday on field 3 at Centennial Park.

Scottsbluff, Chadron and Alliance are also playing in the double elimination tournament.

The winner of the state tournament will represent Nebraska in a regional tournament July 24-26 in Chadron.

The "Mid-Plains" Regional consists of teams from Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, North Dakota and Canada.

This North Platte squad went undefeated at state a year ago as 9-year-olds before they were knocked out in the regionals by a team from Denver.
