Weekend police beat: Assaults, prescription drugsTell North Platte what you think

At around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, officers from the NPPD responded to a home in the 1300 block of East Fourth on the report of a domestic disturbance.

A 31-year-old woman said that her domestic partner, Jessie Plunk, 30, was intoxicated and the two had an argument. She said Plunk pushed and threw her to the ground several times. She said during the altercation Plunk kept her from calling law enforcement by damaging bothe her cell phone and land line phone.

The older of two children, ages 9 and 11, was present during the assault, and finally ran next door to a neighbor to call 911.

Following further investigation, officers charged Plunk with third-degree domestic assault – a felony because of a prior conviction. Plunk is also charged with criminal mischief and two counts of child abuse.

He was jailed at the Lincoln County Detention Center. His bond is set at $10,000.

Dumpster diving

At around 2:10 a.m. Saturday, an officer on patrol saw suspicious activity in a vehicle parked by the Thrift Center near West Fourth and Sycamore.

Jerica Dabney, 36, was looking inside the passenger side of a vehicle parked there. As the officer approached, another woman, age 33, suddenly popped up out of a nearby trash dumpster. She apparently was trying to find something of value in there, according to the police report.

The officer suspected Jerica Dabney was under the influence of something due to her behavior and asked her for permission to search her, and she consented. The officer found several prescription pills, but no prescription.

Dabney was arrested and jailed, charged with two counts of felony possession of Tylenol III and alprazolam and possession of a legend drug. She is held on $15,000 bond.

Domestic violence

Around 7 p. m. Monday, police responded to a home in the 200 block of West 11th after the 911 call center received a hang up call from a screaming woman.

Police spokesman Rodney Brown said officers arrived and spoke with the woman, who denied being in distress.

But her eye was visibly injured, and when police asked that, the 31-year-old woman said that her domestic partner, Dana Foster, 32, gave her the black eye following an argument, while they were driving.

With their children in the vehicle, Foster poked her in the eye hard enough to cause bruising and swelling, the woman told police.

Officers found Foster at a house in the 800 block of East 15th, where he was taken into custody and charged with third-degree domestic assault.
