Girl Scouts who participate in this program select an organization or group they would like to support with cookie donations.

With the generous support of her customers this year, Serena is donating more than a dozen boxes of cookies to soldiers from the Lincoln County and surrounding area who are stationed in Afghanistan.

Serena sent the cookies to Afghanistan through Patriot Packages in Hershey. She is a member of Girl Scout Troop 10255 of Sutherland.

Each year, Sernea looks forward to seeing how many boxes she can send to the troops, Patriot Package organizer Barb Baldridge said.

Baldridge thanks everyone who supported the Gift of Sharing Program which in turn supports Patriot Packages.

Shortly after the war in Afghanistan began in 20012, Patriot Packages began sending care packages to troops in harm’s way, thanks to generous donations from the community, and continued to do so.

The group meets at 5 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at the Paul R. Martin Post 279 in Hershey.
