Reed, 19, was implicated on Feb. 20 in the distribution of marijuana from a house in the 100 block of S. Chestnut, along with Austin Welch, 20.

Officers went looking for Welch after Welch failed to take care of a speeding ticket. They found marijuana and paraphernalia in the house, including pipes and bongs, digital scales and packaging material.

They later learned that Reed was also involved in the marijuana operation.

Harling told Lincoln County District Court Judge Richard Birch that Reed was enrolling in drug court. Based on that, Birch deferred sentencing pending completion of drug court.

Welch

Austin Welch, 20, was convicted of a reduced charge of attempted possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Defense attorney Russ Jones said his client would not contest the reduced charge.

Per the agreement, Welch waived his right to a pre-sentence investigation.

Birch sentenced him to 180 days in jail, plus court costs, giving him credit for 20 days served. Jones asked that Welch be allowed time to finish some personal business before reporting to jail.

Rowlands told him to report at 9 a.m. on June 30.

How often do these drug court "deals" work ? I see people on here all the time back in jail for non compliance. If they had been complying in the first place then they would not be in those situations.
