Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies learned of one case around 10 p.m. on June 2, when a man on West Vannoy Dr. south of Hershey reported that his home was broken into. He reported several items of value were missing, including guns and jewelry, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office.

Earlier that day, a deputy sheriff stopped a suspicious vehicle near the Hershey interstate lake with three occupants, all from North Platte -- Kent Smith, 26; Dawn Herwuh, 36, and Jenna Wilson, 27.

During the traffic stop, the deputy found items of jewelry in the vehicle, which none of the occupants claimed. The items were seized and the trio was released, the sheriff’s statement said.

But later, after the burglary was reported, the victim identified the seized items as those that were stolen from his home. Since that time, deputies have searched for and found Smith, Herweh and Wilson, all of whom are arrested and jailed.

Smith was charged on June 6 and held in jail for six days, when he paid 10 percent of a $12,500 bond and was released, according to sheriff's records.

Wilson was arrested Friday and remains in jail on a $75,000 bond.

Herweh was rounded up Friday. She was one of three burglars who were collared at a stakeout at a home at South Buffalo Bill Ave. She is now charged with two counts of burglary and held on bonds that total $50,000.

S. Colonial Lane

In another incident around 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 17, a resident of South Colonial Lane in North Platte reported their home was broken into and a lock box containing personal-financial information was removed. Some prescription medication was also taken, the sheriff reported.   Acting on a tip from the victim, investigators charged North Platte resident Zachary Rote, 29, with burglary on Thursday.

Rote is also charged with making terroristic threats. He is held on bonds that total $36,000.

Also, Taylor Trembly of North Platte was charged Saturday for aiding and abetting burglary.  Trembly is also charged with possession of amphetamine with intent to deliver, according to sheriff’s records. His bond totals $30,000.

The investigation continues in both cases and additional arrests may follow, the sheriff said.
