Faculty and staff at North Platte Community College greeted the NOW (Nebraska on Wheels) bus tour with the famous Canteen Spirit Wednesday as it rolled onto the college’s south campus.
Each year, a group of high school counselors and higher education representatives from across Nebraska make a three-day trip through the state, visiting two-year and four-year colleges as they go.
This year’s group enjoyed a warm, Canteen-style welcome and a box lunch during a brief stop at the college’s Health and Science Center on Wednesday morning. They headed to McCook Community College before returning to NPCC to tour the north and south campuses.
Plans included a social at Lake Maloney and lodging in the south campus residence halls.
“This was a great event for MPCC,” said Recruitment Coordinator Mindy Hope. “The majority of these counselors have never been on any of our main campuses and this day gave us a chance to showcase all the wonderful opportunities that we have to offer future students.
“We heard many positive comments from the counselors about our faculty, staff, facilities and programs that we offer in both North Platte and McCook,” she continued. “I think this program will have a positive impact on the recruitment of future students from across all areas of Nebraska.”
