The North Platte Farmer’s Market opens at 7:30 a.m. Saturday in downtown North Platte for the first day of this season. The Farmer’s Market will be located on the west side of the Parkade Plaza parking lot, west of Alco. It will be open each Saturday through October as produce and weather permit, orgranizers say.
From July 8 through September, the market will also be open at 4-7 p.m. Tuesday evenings at the same place, spokeswoman Kirsten Parker said.
The market offers produce, baked goods, home made crafts and other items. To display goods, contact Cathy Grauerholz (308)386-6214 to arrange for booth space. The rules and regulations can be found online at northplattefarmersmarket.com.
Items for sale must be either homegrown or homemade in order to participate.
Also, there will be some special Saturdays this year, starting on July 5 with Kids Day, featuring activities to show where food comes from, how to prepare produce and other activities.
A special Saturday is planned on Aug. 2 to celebrate the anniversary of the North Platte Farmer’s Market, with special booths and activities.
On Sept. 6, the market will feature breakfast goodies, including but not limited to a pancake feed to benefit CASA.
