A North Platte man who faced a 90-day sentence for two misdemeanor thefts now faces a felony escape charges because he didn't report to jail.Seth Jackson, 25, was convicted April 8 of stealing a large roll of fiber optic cable from a Century Link storage yard, as well as copper wire from a city storage yard.
In exchange for a no contest plea, a trespassing charge was dismissed.
Lincoln County District Judge Donald Rowlands sentenced Jackson to 90 days in jail in lieu of $7,000 in restitution and ordered him to check in to the Lincoln County jail on April 17, but he didn't show up, so a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Police caught up with Jackson at around 8:15 p.m. on May 13 at a house in the 600 block of West 11th.
Jackson was trying to slip out the back door when officers caught him, according to the police report.
He was taken into custody without futher incident and jailed.
Bond is set at $100,000.
