Soccer: Lady Dawgs fall to Kearney in district finalTell North Platte what you think

KEARNEY-Kearney scored two goals in the second half on Wednesday to defeat North Platte 2-0 in the district championship game.

NPHS finishes with a record of 12-5 while Kearney (15-3) advances to the state tournament, which will start on May 14.

The Lady Bulldogs graduate a strong class of seniors in Taylor Banark, Madalynn Doughty, Donna Henne, Chandler Hoeft, Marisa Martinez and Hannah Wilke. The six seniors combined for 20 years of varsity experience.

Four of those six seniors will be playing college soccer next year. Doughty has signed with UNK, Martinez has signed with Midland University in Fremont, Banark will play for Hastings College and Wilke will go to Western Nebraska Community College.

Banark, who has been a starter since her freshman year, led the Lady Dawgs with 22 goals and 20 assists, both of which were among the tops in the state.
