Saturday, May 10 marks the 22nd anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Participating in the drive is simple, letter carrier Diane McConnell of North Platte said. Just leave a non-perishable food donation in a bag by your mailbox on Saturday and your letter carrier will do the rest.
Each year on the second Saturday of May, letter carriers collect non-perishable food donations from customers. Food donations go directly to local food pantries to provide food to people in North Platte who need help.
Last year, North Platte carriers collected 9.5 tons of food for local food banks, McConnell said.
"I invite you to join in America's great day of giving and help us in our fight to end hunger," she said.
