DARE Day 2014 for DARE graduates from North Platte and surrounding communities in Lincoln County will be held Friday, May 2.
DARE stands for Drug Abuse Resistance Education.
The celebration will be held from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the North Platte Recreation Center.
By participating in the DARE program, fifth and sixth graders take a vow to stay drug, tobacco and bully free in their lives. DARE graduates participate in games and recreation on DARE Day to celebrate that vow, DARE police officer Rodney Brown said.
The number of students from North Platte Public Schools and Lincoln County schools will be around 500 this year, Brown said.
