Douglas D. Thompson was convicted Thursday of assault after he reached a plea agreement with the Lincoln County Attorney.

Thompson, 69, was originally charged with third-degree sexual assault.

The incident occurred Sept. 15 when a 14-year-old girl said she was inappropriately touched while trying on a dress in her room.

Thompson pled no contest to the charge.

Lincoln County Judge Kent Turnbull advised him that he is convicted of a Class 1 misdemeanor, with a maximum one-year sentence and $1,000 fine.

Thompson  was ordered to report to the probation office for a pre-sentence interview and investigation. His sentencing is set for June 5.
