The Chase County track team displayed athletic talent Thursday, winning both the boys and girls divisions of the Sutherland track invite.

The Longhorn boys scored 115 points, edging North Platte St. Patrick’s who finished with 92.5.

The Lady Longhorns 176.5 points, outdistancing the second place Lady Irish who finished with 60.5 points. 

Chase County led the boys’ teams with first place finishes in five events. Paxton took home four gold medals. Paxton’s Kolton Carlyle took home three first place medals for the Tigers, winning the 100 and 200-meter runs and anchoring the 4 x 100 relay team. Wauneta-Palisade runner Wes Anderjeska also had two victories, winning the 800 and 1600.

Alex Harms set a new meet and St. Patrick's school record with a discus throw of 156 feet, 9 inches.

In the girls division, Chase County dominated by winning 10 first place medals. The Lady Longhorns won eight of 11 timed events and two of six field events.

Brady won three first places. St. Pat's and Sutherland each won two.

Individually, Chase County had two multiple gold winners. Paige Spady won the 1600 and 3200 meter runs. Kristen Jussel won three firsts, winning the 100 and 300 hurdles and also running a leg with the first place 4 x 400 relay team.

A total of 11 teams competed.
