Youth track, field games set at high schoolTell North Platte what you think

The Hershey food company will sponsor youth track and field games on May 17, open to boys and girls ages 9-14.

The North Platte Recreation Center will co-host the meet, which will begin at 11 a.m. at the North Platte Senior High School Track (1000 West 2nd St.)

Events include the 50 meter dash, 800 meter run, softball throw, standing long jump and more, said Sharon Berglund of the recreation center.

Winners will advance to a state meet June 7 in Grand Island. 

The Hershey’s Track and Field Games has involved millions of youngsters from 50 states, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Canada, the compnay said. The gamers are sponsored by the Hershey Company and partner with the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance; Athletics Canada; and the National Recreation and Park Association. 

Registration forms are available at the Recreation Center.
