Pose a question and see if you get a straight answer Thursday when North Platte’s candidates for the Nebraska Legislature and the Lincoln County Commissioners meet the public.
The forum will be held from 7:30-9 p.m. at the McKinley Education Center, 301 West F Street. It is sponsored by the Lincoln County Farm Bureau.
Organizer Ernie Mehl invites questions. He told the Bulletin Monday that every effort will be made to ask candidates questions that are ready in advance.
Each candidate will have a minute to introduce themselves and their platform. Then they will answer questions, spending about a minute per question, depending on time available.
To pose a question, you can enter it as a talkback below this story or email Editor George Lauby at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will take your questions to the forum if you cannot attend.
The legislature is grappling with such issues as prison overcrowding, legalized hemp and school spending.
The Lincoln County Commissioners oversee roads, the sheriff, the jail and property taxes, as well as the offices in the courthouse.
County commissioner candidates Bill Henry, Ken Main and Ron Books will speak during the first 45 minutes of the forum. Legislative candidates Scott Dulin, Roric Paulman and Mike Groene will speak during the second 45 minutes.
The doors will open at 7 p.m. KNOP-TV is moderating and broadcasting the forum.
