A man fell out of the speeding van that he was driving Wednesday and the van crashed into the back of Todd's Alinement at 1900 Rodeo Road.

Police said trouble started when Fernando Vences, 31, got in an argument with a woman near the 1800 block of W. 13th.

Agitated, he got into a black 1990 Chevrolet G20 van and sped down 13th St. at high speed. He fell out of the van as he turned south on Miles and the driver's door opened, witnesses told police.

The van continued south on the short block and ran into the back of the building. Vences suffered abrasions to his arm and back, but ran away on foot.

Police were notified of the wreck around 6:30 p.m. and soon found Vences in an alley near Sherman. He was charged with driving under suspension and leaving the scene of an injury accident.

Police said the building sustained about $2,000 in damages and the van, $500. Vences' bond was set at $10,000.

The orginal report said Vences fled on 19th St. That address has been corrected. -Editor
