Daniel Endicott, 28, pled guilty Monday to amended charges of attempted possession of methamphetamines. As part of a plea agreement, a second charge of failure to pay drug taxes was dropped.

The charges were the result of an incident that occurred on March 2 when police were called to 2415 W Ninth Street, Lot 1 on a complaint of excessive traffic in the neighborhood.

A search warrant was issued and resulted in police finding several empty baggies, money, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia and a baggie containing 20 grams of methamphetamine.

Endicott was arrested with Harry J. Statley, who died of an apparent heart attack two weeks later. Statley had complained of chest pains in jail and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.

Prior to Endicott’s plea in court Monday, Birch told both attorneys that he had previous dealings with Endicott in juvenile court and asked if they wanted him to recuse himself from the case.

Both parties said that his past dealings were not a problem.

After Endicott’s plea, the county attorney said Endicott is due in drug court. Birch postponed sentencing pending the outcome of Endicott’s appearance in drug court.

Endicott was released on a personal recognizance bond.
