Kaitlynn Harvey won the long jump on Saturday to lead the North Platte High School girls' track and field squad to a sixth place finish at the Buffalo Bill Invite.
The Lady Bulldogs finished with 31 points in the nine-team invite. The three newcomers to the Buffalo Bill field finished as the top three. Grand Island Northwest was first with 113 1/2 points. Millard West was second with 105 and York was third with 95.5.
Harvey's performance in the long jump was the only first place finish for NPHS. The junior leaped 16-feet, 5-inches to beat beat Ashley Scherer of Northwest who had 16-0 1/4.
Hope Wilke finished second and third place, respectively in the shot put and discus. SteaVen Becker of Scottsbluff won both events.
"We had some good things happen today," North Platte coach Dennis Fornander said. "(Wilke) did well in the shot put and discus. Kaitlynn won the long jump and some or our runners had some PRs. We learned a lot about our team and what their strengths and weaknesses are."
