The lecture starts at 10:30 a.m.

Bradley is a noted historian and the author of Flags of our Fathers, the book that inspired the award-winning movie about the six men who were responsible for raising the flag on Iwo Jima during World War II.

One of those men was Bradley’s father, John.

Bradley takes audiences on a journey to the days of the "Greatest Generation" -- the period from the Great Depression to World War II -- and shares stories of hope and courage. Flag of our Fathers embodies the power of “doing the impossible.”
“We are thrilled to have James come to North Platte to tell his father’s story,” said Wendy Staroska of the Town Hall Lecture Series.

Bradley burst onto the national scene as an author in 2000 with the New York Times #1 best-seller, Flags of Our Fathers. The Times called it “the surprise runaway nonfiction best seller of the season."

Flags of Our Fathers was released as a motion picture in 2007, directed by Clint Eastwood.

Town Hall Lecture series memberships are $60, admitting members to four lectures. Tickets for the last two lectures in this year’s series are still available at 308-530-8448.

The final lecture in the series is by Ms. Kanbri Crews on May 6. Crews is an American comedic storyteller and author.
