Snow, at times heavy, began falling around 10:30 a.m., after a light rain. It came as a shock after temperatures in the 70s through the weekend.

Snow could continue until 1 p.m. or so Monday, the National Weather Service at North Platte said. The sky will remain cloudy through the day, with a steady temperature around 35 and winds at 32-34 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.

The winds will lessen after midnight and the sky will gradually clear. The low temperature will be around 23 degrees, the weather service said. The sun will shine Tuesday, April 1, but more rain and/or snow is possible Wednesday and Thursday, according to the forecast.
