The geo-thermal well will be about 300 feet deep. The water, heated thermally to 50-plus degrees,  will provide a base temperature for the new heating and cooling system.

Nebcon Inc. of Omaha is in charge of drilling. The job was expected to take three days.

The project is part of an extensive update of the courthouse that began in 2012. The upgrade also includes new electric wiring as wellas new windows and doors, which were just installed.
