Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church will sponsor limited screenings of the film Mary of Nazareth once each day on March 23, 25 and 30 at the Carmike 6 Theater in the Platte River Mall.

These special movie showings are a fund raising event for the Women’s Resource Center in North Platte, as well as the St. Patrick and Holy Spirit food pantry.

Mary of Nazareth is the first major motion picture of the remarkable life of Mary from her childhood through the Resurrection of Jesus, organizers say. The movie vividly captures the essence of Mary’s faith and trust in God amidst the great mysteries she lived.

The movie shows her compassionate humanity and concern for others, and the love that she and Jesus shared.

The film was shot in English and high definition in Europe and directed by European film director Giacomo Campiotti (Doctor Zhivago). It was written by Francesco Arlanch. Originally a 200-minute film, Mary of Nazareth has been edited to 153 minutes (2.5 hours) for the theatrical release.

The parishioners of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church are happy to afford movie fans with the unique opportunity. Viewers will witness the life of the Holy Family as it was 2,000 years ago through the eyes of Mary.

Show times are 4 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 and 4 p.m. Sunday, March 30.

Tickets are $10 each and available only in advance. Tickets may be purchased at the Women’s Resource Center (316 East Front), the parish offices at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, St. Patrick’s or Holy Spirit churches, online at www.seas-np.org, or at Dunkin Donuts and Bible Supplies in North Platte.

A movie trailer and further information about the film is at www.maryfilm.com.

Organizers say the film portrays Mary’s role in God’s plan for redemption, her relationship with Christ and the suffering that she endured with his passion and death, as well as her joy at his resurrection.
